Switching from TiviMate to TELOS: plan the move

What actually comes with you

Your player, TV access and device serve different purposes. TiviMate and TELOS are playback apps. The channels in a source and whether you may use it on another device depend on your agreement with that provider. A paid player licence does not replace a TV contract. A TV contract does not unlock another app’s premium features either.

According to TiviMate, the app itself does not include channels. For the move, you therefore need the original details for your source, such as an M3U address or Xtream login. If the old TV still shows a working channel list but you no longer have those details, get them from your provider before deleting anything.

Treat this as a fresh setup. We do not promise to transfer a TiviMate backup, favourites, recordings or remote-control settings. Privately note the channels and settings that matter. You can then check whether the new controls fit your routine.

Check the target device first

Switching may also mean changing devices: perhaps you use TiviMate in the living room and want to watch the same permitted source on an iPad. Whether that works depends on the TELOS version for the target device and your source provider’s rules. Availability of an Android phone app does not imply approval for Android TV.

Open the TELOS device overview and check the current platform status. Android TV and Google TV are currently in preparation; Samsung Tizen and LG webOS are under manufacturer review. Do not plan an immediate replacement of a working app on those platforms. A store listing for another platform does not change that status.

For Fire TV, the exact model also matters. Identify Fire OS and Vega OS (in German) to find the right installation route. A similar device name is not proof of compatibility.

Details to get from your source provider

Have the details ready, but do not put them in public posts or screenshots:

• For Xtream: server address, username and password exactly as supplied by the provider.
• For M3U: the complete playlist address or a file supported on your platform.
• For programme data: the matching EPG source, if it is not supplied through your access.
• Contract rules: permitted devices and simultaneous streams.

An M3U address can contain access details even if it looks like a normal link. Do not shorten or alter it by guesswork. If your provider supports only its own app and does not issue access details for external use, you cannot replace that app with an arbitrary player. Ask which access methods are supported instead of extracting data from another app.

Set up the source and check three channels

Install TELOS through the official route on the device page. Then follow the guide through to the first channel. Choose the access type you actually received; a playlist URL does not belong in the Xtream server-address field.

First check three channels you use regularly. Does each start? Do picture and sound work? Can you find the channels again with the remote or touchscreen? This small selection reveals your main use faster than an unchecked list with thousands of entries.

If your contract allows only one simultaneous stream, stop playback on the old device before testing the new one. Another test stream could distort the result. Then compare in sequence under similar network conditions. This is a check of your own setup, not a general speed comparison between apps.

Check the EPG and convenience features separately

A working channel does not prove that the programme guide is mapped correctly. For the same channel, check the title, time and next programme. If details are missing, read How to map M3U and EPG correctly. Features depend on platform, app version and source format. M3U with XMLTV EPG is documented for iPhone and iPad; that does not promise the feature on every TELOS platform.

Next, check only the features that matter to your purchase decision: favourites, playback resume or, where applicable, downloads. An EPG does not automatically mean catch-up or recording. Catch-up and downloads from M3U are not promised on the Apple mobile devices mentioned. The relevant product page remains the authoritative feature overview.

Set up favourites again deliberately if no supported transfer is available. A few well-organised channels are often more useful than an untidy import of old groups.

When the switch is complete

Keep the old setup until the sources and devices that matter to you work. Also try your normal evening routine on your home Wi-Fi. If something remains unclear, note the target device, operating system, TELOS version, access type and visible message. Redact complete URLs and login details.

For a login error, follow the login troubleshooting sequence; for interruptions, use the buffering diagnosis. Do not cancel an existing contract until you know which service it replaces: a player licence and a TV source are separate services.
